These are old releases, not necessarily highly collectibles, but of great interest when it comes to Bourbon History! In essence, this is what this class is all about: going back to Bourbon’s teenage…since it has grown up to be such a fully mature industry. Most of these were bottled in the 70’s and 80’s, at somewhere between 6 to 8 years of age, and may surprise your taste buds. “Private Keep”, “Premium Bourbon”, “Light Whiskey”…what do these terms mean? Different times, different terminology, and certainly different whiskeys. But the raw materials, distillation methods and wood policies are very much the same in 2016 as they were 40 years ago. Bourbon was and still is approachable, but as our palates have evolved, so have the marketing departments of these brands, tweaking the label’s message, changing the imagery, and playing with bottle shapes more susceptible to please our Millenials and Collectors alike.
